Health insurance will be mandatory for entry into Georgia starting in 2026.

The Georgian government has announced that, starting January 1, 2026, all tourists entering the country will be required to have health and accident insurance for the duration of their stay.

What does the insurance cover?

The insurance must cover:

• Medical treatment

• Accidents

• For the entire duration of your stay in Georgia

The policy must be:

• In paper or electronic format

• In Georgian or English

Required coverage amount

The decision stipulates that the coverage amount must be at least 30,000 Georgian Lari (approximately US$11,500).

Insurance source

• Insurance can be issued by a Georgian insurance company

• Or by an accredited international insurance company

Important note for travelers

Travelers will not be permitted entry into Georgia without health insurance that meets the new requirements. The insurance must remain valid for the entire duration of your stay.
